A consistent instructional design guides students to mastery of the skills in the CCSS for Math
through the following four steps:
Diagnostic Pretests: Match the skills found in the Common Core and allow assessment of current knowledge. Document strengths and weaknesses on the tryout Test Skills Chart.
Review: Skill lessons provide guided review of each standard. Each lesson focuses on conceptual understanding, procedural skill and fluency, and application to meet the rigor of the standards.
Practice Lessons: Focus on helping students make sense of the problem, reason abstractly and quantitatively, and apply math to everyday solutions as emphasized in the standards.
Comprehensive and lesson level test for each standard: Measure progress and skill mastery.
